About this event
Join us on Sunday, April 27, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Writers Center (4508 Walsh St., Bethesda) to watch “Why Is Mona Lisa Smiling? The Reimagination of the Corporation.” It’s a timely documentary by ROCO Films who believes that sharing stories about real people and real issues makes us stronger -- and is sure to provoke lots of interesting discussion.
“It links the revolutionary spirit of the Renaissance to today’s reimagining of capitalism. Just as the Black Plague spurred innovation and capitalism in the 14th century, the global pandemic has driven new approaches to business. Facing challenges like inequality and climate change, a new generation of leaders advocates for inclusive, purpose-driven practices,” according to the film’s distributor. “Featuring CEOs, visionaries, and historians, the film explores shifts in corporate priorities, emphasizing sustainable practices and equity. By drawing parallels between Renaissance trailblazers and modern innovators, it offers a hopeful vision of capitalism refocused on people, not just profit.”
We’ll start with wine and cheese and close with a moderated panel discussion to explore the issues raised in the film. Single tickets are $50.
