Survey Response - Preamble

LWVMC Survey - 2026 QUESTION TOPICS FOR CANDIDATES

Introduction

The League of Women Voters of Montgomery County (LWVMC) is preparing for the 2026 Primary Election. Voters will choose candidates for federal, state and local offices, including: U.S. Representative, Governor, state Attorney General, Senators and Delegates in the Maryland General Assembly, and Montgomery County's Executive, County Council, and School Board. A complete description of offices on the 2026 ballot is available in this brochure: 2026 Offices on Ballot + What They Do.

LWVMC prepares and distributes a Voters' Guide for each election, which includes a series of questions answered by each candidate. (See our 2024 Primary Election VOTERS' Guide here: 2024 Voters' Guides). We prepare these questions by selecting topics of interest to voters. We invite you to help us select those topics for each office. The LWVMC Making Democracy Work Committee will develop questions from these topics. Questions will be reviewed by the LWVMC Board of Directors before finalizing. Note that candidates' qualifications will be available, so we do not include qualifications among the choice of possible topics. The candidates' responses will be published in May 2026 in the print Voters' Guide and in the online version, Vote411.org.

To assist us in this work, please complete the survey by AUGUST 31. If you have questions about the survey, please email mdw@lwvmocomd.org with "Candidate Topics" in the Subject line.
