Our Mission
Nationally the League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy. We empower voters and defend democracy through advocacy, education, and litigation, at the local, state, and national levels.
LWVMC Mission
The mission of the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County is to empower voters and defend democracy.
We fulfill this mission by:
Providing the electorate with information to make informed decisions about candidates, issues and the election process, and registering voters to ensure broad participation.
Influencing public policy, providing civic education and promoting civic engagement.
Empowering every person to participate in civil debate and advocacy.
Vision
We envision a democracy where every person has the desire, the right, the knowledge, the confidence and the desire to participate. Every person must also have the unimpeded opportunity to engage in our system of governance and hold government accountable.

We believe in the power of every person to create a more perfect democracy. To ensure that our core value is fully realized, we are also committeed to:

Political Policy
The LWVMC shall not support or oppose any political party or any candidate.

LWV is an organization fully committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in principle and in practice. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the organization’s current and future success in engaging all individuals, households, communities, and policy makers in creating a more perfect democracy. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, gender identity, ethnicity, race, native or indigenous origin, age, generation, sexual orientation, culture, religion, belief system, marital status, parental status, socioeconomic status, language, accent, ability status, mental health, educational level or background, geography, nationality, work style, work experience, job role function, thinking style, personality type, physical appearance, political perspective or affiliation and/or any other characteristic that can be identified as recognizing or illustrating diversity.
To achieve this mission, the LWVMC facilitates voting, influences public policy, provides civic education, and promotes civic engagement.
