HELP US EMPOWER VOTERS FOR THE FALL GENERAL ELECTION

VoteMatters.jpg

As the General Election nears, LWVMC has many opportunities for volunteers to support our efforts to register voters to ensure broad participation and provide the electorate with information to make informed decisions about candidates, issues and the election process.

Non-Members can help to distribute Voters’ Guides. Other opportunities are only open to members. New members are welcome and these activities are great ways to get started volunteering for the League.

Find out more about these opportunities and how you can participate below.  Scroll down or use these links:

VOTERS’ GUIDE DISTRIBUTION

In advance of the Primary Election, we distributed more than 65,000 Voters’ Guides in English and more than 25,000 Spanish Voters’ Guides at over 125 locations. Added together with users who accessed VOTE411.org and a .pdf version on our website, the Voters’ Guide reached over 109,000 voters or 76% of all who voted in the Primary Election.

Volunteers are still needed to distribute Voters' Guides and VOTE411 Cards at Metro Stations!
- Thank you to volunteers who are already distributing Voters' Guides at over 130 locations around the County.  Information about this effort is here: Distribute Voters' Guides

We still need volunteers to hand out copies of the Voters' Guide and VOTE411 cards at Metro Stations around the county.  Members, sign up to help organize this effort at a Metro Station near you.

POLLING PLACE SUPPORT PROGRAM

This program, operated under contract with the County Board of Elections, sends volunteers to observe election operations and record their observations on a form. On Primary Election Day in June 2026, 41 LWVMC volunteer observers visited and completed questionnaires for 171 polling places in Montgomery County. The results of the PPSP observations help improve training of election workers.

LWVMC members and nonmembers are invited to volunteer!  You must attend a training session before Election Day and be available to visit polling places on General Election Day (November 2). There also is an in-person debrief after the election, which is an important part of this observation program.

Register for this program by signing up for a training session in our Event Calendar and completing the PPSP Volunteer Questionnaire.  There are five training sessions: October 14 (morning and evening), October 15 (afternoon) and October 19 (morning and evening). SPEAKERS BUREAU – BALLOT QUESTIONS

LWVMC's Speakers Bureau supplies speakers to explain public policy issues and processes related to elections and voting. More here. Ahead of the General Election, we expect many requests from Montgomery County-based clubs, neighborhood associations, residential communities, and other groups for League speakers who can explain the three questions on the ballot about proposed amendments to the Maryland constitution. These proposed amendments address binding arbitration for contracts with state government employees, temporary appointments to the Commission on Judicial Disabilities, and standards for drawing of congressional district lines.

Request a LWVMC speaker here: Voter Services/Speakers Bureau Request
